Dear Parents,
I am very concerned about the safety of our children. Many students are accessing myspace.com as well as similar sights that promote themselves as online networking and socializing tools that permit users to create personal profiles, post pictures, write comments about themselves and others and browse other profiles. These websites can expose our children to great harm.
Because the safety of my students is a primary concern, I am notifying you of a program designed for you as parents. Detective Sgt. Jerry Quinn is an authority on Internet Safety. Detective Quinn is facilitating a district-wide information session for parents on Thursday, April 6, at 7:30 P.M. at Orange Avenue School auditorium. Thursday evening’s session is being sponsored by Cranford Public Schools. Due to its importance St. Michael’s School parents have been invited. This program is for adults. Due to extremely graphic details, children should not attend.
I am aware that SMS students are logged on to myspace.com. I don’t mean to frighten you, but it is to your benefit to be aware of these websites and to what your children may be exposed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely yours,
Sandy Miragliotta
Principal
