Dear Parents,
The third marking period has ended and report cards will be distributed early next week. On Wednesday we will be going to church at 8:30 for the Passion presented by grades 5 & 8. At 10:00AM. on April 4th, we will assemble in the auditorium for honor card distribution. At that time, Mrs. Mavis Serafin, from the Crane’s Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution , will present tokens of appreciation to the students of SMS who won at the Cranford level of the essay contest depicting the Jamestown colony. Those winning essays were then entered at the state level contest. I am pleased to announce that at the state level SMS has three winners:
Grade 6 - 1st Place - Michael Dombrowski
Grade 7 - 2nd Place - Megan Byrne
Grade 8 - 2nd Place - Alexa Christensen
Spring has finally sprung. We can take our spring uniforms out. According to our school handbook, the spring uniform may be worn as of April 1st. Please use your judgement.
Our Spring Book Fair was most successful. Gratitude should be extended to Mrs. Singer and her assistants: Mrs. Byrne, Mrs. Genova, Mary Jane, Ms. Brown, Mrs. Iosso, Mrs. Reilly, Katie Lubin, Maeve Lynskey, and Julie, Lauren & Megan Byrne. Thanks to your support, SMS has an abundance of new books. Look for an amended list of Accelerated Reader books and quizzes coming soon.
Two reminders should be noted. First, when your child is absent, an absentee note must be sent to the homeroom teacher. Second, lunch may be purchased daily, weekly or monthly. For bookkeeping purposes, monthly is easier.

May you enjoy a Blessed Easter,
Sandy Miragliotta
Principal
